Impact

StEER builds societal resilience by generating new knowledge on the performance of the built environment through impactful post-disaster reconnaissance disseminated to affected communities.

StEER deepens the structural natural hazards engineering (NHE) community’s capacity for reliable post-event reconnaissance by:

  • promoting community-driven standards, best practices, and training for field reconnaissance,

  • coordinating early, efficient and impactful event responses,

  • broadly engaging communities of research, practice and policy to accelerate learning from disasters.

Event Response Map

Early. Efficient. Impactful.

Through our network of regional nodes and the use of the latest assessment technologies within standardized data collection protocols, StEER is able to respond swiftly after major events in a coordinated fashion, making its data available in near-real time and issuing impactful analyses to inform ongoing response and recovery from major disasters.

Since its founding in 2018, StEER has responded to dozens of events involving individuals from universities and organizations worldwide to generate dozens of products.

Interact with the map to explore the details of our responses to each of these events and available products.
